KEY ATTRACTION AT Manali

Manali offers ample opportunities for sightseeing and adventure activities. With Kullu, the valley of Gods just a few kms away gifted with lofty mountains, splashing rivers, water streams and finest of slopes, the place is ideal for any kind of adventure sport. The most popular adventure activities include Hiking, Trekking, Paragliding, Skiing, River rafting and Zorbing. Star gazing is another interesting activity for tourists to indulge in apart form going on day picnics and village walks.

There are many temples for people to visit like the Gayatri Mata Temple, Hadimba Temple, Jagannath Temple, Hanogi Mata Temple. 

Since many Tibetans reside in Manali there are many beautiful monasteries. The popular ones are the Gadhan Thekchoking Gompa Monastery, which is famous for medium size statue of Lord Buddha and multi coloured wall paintings. The other popular monastery is the Himalayan Nyingamapa Gompa, which is popular for a large statue of Buddha with a golden face.

Rohtang Pass is the highest point on the Manali-Keylong road situated at an altitude of 13,050 metres above sea level. It connects Kullu Manali with Spiti and Lahaul. The pass is only open from May to November, since snowfall during the winters blocks this pass. This pass is a popular picnic spot in summer. This scenic spot provides excellent opportunities for trekking and is also the ''Highest Jeepable Road in the World'' offering spectacular views of the Himalayas.

Situated 13 km northwest of Manali, between Beas Kund and Solang village is the gorgeous Solang valley, particularly a pictorial spot presenting awesome scenery of snow clad mountains and glaciers. Also known as Snow Point is famous for its 300 m ski lift. Popular for adventurous sports Parachuting, skating/skiing, zorbing and paragliding are some of the famous sports played here.

Chandrakhani Pass is located in the Parbati valley that joins Malana Valley to Kullu Valley. An ideal base for trekking, the pass is known for its scenic beauty. Chandrakhani is 3600m above sea level and offers scenic trekking trails.

Manikaran and Vashisht Baths are the places extremely popular amongst both Indian and foreign tourists for their hot springs. Beas kund is a place of religious importance particularly for the Hindus but also offers tremendous defying activities like trekking and camping for adventurous enthusiasts. The region has one of the most alluring treks in the Kullu region, which can be tried by anyone.

There is also something for adventure enthusiasts. Located amidst the spectacular natural vista, the Great Himalayan National Park is home to some of the most elusive and endangered species of animals. Sprawling on an area of 50 sqkm, there are around 180 species of bird and mammals that tourists can sight here.

HOW TO REACH Manali

Manali is connected by road, rail and air transport. 

Bhuntar which is 50kms away is the nearest airport with taxi service plying for connectivity to Manali. 

Joginder Nagar is the nearest railway station which is the narrow gauge line. The other closest railheads are Chandigarh and Ambala situated at a distance of 310km and 344kms respectively. 

Within Himachal Pradesh, Manali is well connected to all other tourist destinations through private delux buses and state owned buses.
