Narkanda

Narkanda is located in the midst of the apple belt of Himachal Pradesh, 65 Kms beyond Shimla on NH 22, en-route to the Sangla valley (Kinnaur).Surrounded by the Shivalik ranges; it offers a fairy-tale setting of deodar and oak trees. It is easily reachable from Shimla and Rampur as it comes in between these two regions. The place is also connected to Thanedhar with the help of a bypass. 

Narkanda offers beautiful views of snow covered mighty Himalayas. A short drive to the top of the Hatu Hill across the valley takes you to a height of 11500 ft, the highest point in the immediate vicinity, thereby affording a 360° panoramic view with a clear sight of the snow clad ranges of Dalhousie/J&K (Pir Panjal), Dharamshala (Dhauladhar), Manali, Kinnaur/Sangla and Uttarakhand. Narkanda has the most convenient and accessible ski slopes in India. Here one can also enjoy river rafting in the River Sutlej.

KEY ATTRACTION AT Narkanda

Hatu Peak: One of the highest peaks in Shimla, the Hatu Peak is located at an approximate height of 3400 m from sea level. Hatu Peak offers spectacular view of the Himalayan ranges, Snow covered mountains, deep forests, apple orchards and green fields are absolutely surreal to the eyes of visitors. An ancient temple, dedicated to Hatu Mata is also located on the top of the peak.   

Thanedhar: Thanedhar is considered to be the Horticultural heartland of Himachal Pradesh. It is situated at a height of 1830m and located around 17 km away from Narkanda. Thanedhar is well known for its apple orchards. 

Mahamaya Temple: The Mahalaya Temple is located at Kacheri, 7km from Narkanda Town.at an approximate height of 1810m above the sea level. Nestled amid picturesque landscapes, verdant surroundings and an amazingly tranquil aura, the Mahamaya Temple imbibes a magical essence of spiritual and aesthetic pleasure into its admirers. Dedicated to Goddess Kali, the temple provides the perfect ambience for meditation and contemplation.

Jallori Pass: It is famous scenic point situated around 90 km away from the town of Narkanda. This amazing place is located at an elevation of 3550 m from the sea level.

Narkanda by Air You can easily reach to Narkanda by flights that ply directly to Chandigarh. You can reach to Narkanda from the airport with the help of Cab and bus services as well. Narkanda by Bus /Narkanda by railways Town of Narkanda is situated around 145 km from the closest broad gauge railway station that is located in the town of Kalka. Visitors can have toy trains from Kalka to Shimla to reach Narkanda. Narkanda is well connected by bus from Shimla as well as from Chandigarh.

Summer season in Narkanda: Narkanda has a pleasing and easy-going environment during summers. Temperature varies between 10°C - 27°C during summer months (April - June). These months are considered to be the best for visiting the lovely green environments of this town. Monsoon season in Narkanda: During the monsoon months from July till September; Narkanda experiences a temperate rainfall. Winter season in Narkanda: The winters here are very cold especially the winter months of October, November, December, January and February. The temperature during the winters varies between minus ten degrees (-10°C) and fifteen degrees (15°C). During this period Visitors and tourists enjoy skiing and other winter sports.
