Jatinga: Located close to the Haflong ridge is Jatinga, a place famous for bird suicides. It is said that birds fly to this place attracted by the bright lights in the houses and somehow get disoriented. Unable to fly away they are killed by hunters. This phenomenon occurs only in September-October night when fogs and mild showers set in.

The nearest Airport from Haflong Hill is Silchar Airport, Assam, roughly two hour drive from the town. The second nearest Airport from Haflong Hill is Shillong Airport, Meghalaya, roughly five and a half hour drive. Connecting flights to the cities such as Kolkata, Jorhat and Guwahati can be availed from here. Haflong Hill has own railway station named as Haflong Hill Railway Station which is located in northeast of the town. It connects Silchar, Lumding, Maibong and Jatinga to Haflong Hill.

Summers of Haflong Hill are extremely hot and humid. The temperature ranges from 24°C to 30°C in the months of April to June. June marks the beginning of Monsoon season in Haflong Hill and lasts till September. Sporadic rainfalls make Haflong Hill look very beautiful during this season.
