Kufri

Situated at an altitude of 2743 meters above sea level, Kufri is a magnificent hill destination in Himachal Pradesh. The beautiful and picturesque hill town is just 20kms away from Shimla and was founded by the Britishers in 1819. The place derives its name from the word 'Kufr' which means lake and is a popular trekking destination. It is a part of the golden triangle of Himachal Pradesh along with Shimla and Chail. The key trekking points of Himachal to Manali, Shimla, Rawalsur, Fagu, etc commence from Kufri. It is a complete delight for nature and wild life enthusiasts owing to its breathtaking beauty.

KEY ATTRACTION AT Kufri

Kufri is a great destination for adventure activities like trekking; Go karting, skiing, tobogganing etc. It is the oldest skiing slope in Himachal Pradesh and skiing competitions are held in Kufri during the annual winter sports festival organised by the Himachal Pradesh Travel and Tourism Department. The go-karting circuit of Kufri is extremely famous and offers some fast cuts and turns for adventure lovers. Yak riding and trekking ton the Mahasu peak is the most popular activity in Kufri.

For wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers the Himalayan Wildlife Zoo and Nature Park is a major attraction. The park houses about 180 varieties of fauna like rare Antelopes, Felines and birds including the Himalayan Monal which is the state bird of Himachal Pradesh. Other places of attraction are the Indira Tourist Park, Chini Bunglow and the Kufri fun world.

HOW TO REACH Kufri

Kufri is primarily a road transport destination with great connectivity from Delhi, Chandigarh and Shimla. Bus service and cabs are available from Delhi, Shimla and Chandigarh to connect to Kufri. The nearest railhead is Kalka and Jabbar hati is the nearest airport.

WEATHER AT Kufri

Kufri experiences a pleasant weather during summers but winters are extremely cold with the place experiencing good snow fall. It is a perfect summer getaway destination.
