Naldehra

Naldehra is located 23 km away from Shimla in the state of Himachal Pradesh. Up there, at 6,706 feet, is one of the oldest 9-hole golf courses sitting amidst pine trees on the Hindustan-Tibet Road. This is an unusual golf course, strewn with boulders, trees, and little hillocks. Tall deodars flank the links making Naldehra a wonderful sports venue in the midst of natural beauty. Besides the glorious golfing, one can go for long walks through the woods and picnics in the valley.

Sightseeing in Naldehra is all about visiting temple, or marvelling at the beautiful towering pine trees or spending the day on the rolling greens. Most visitors to Naldehra are golf addicts, who come to enjoy the wonderful course and the favourable weather. But don't be mistaken - there is more to do - go for long walks through the towering pine trees, take picnic baskets, and spend the day on the rolling downs. Pay a visit to the Mahunag Temple which is dedicated to the snake god and incidentally this is where Naldehra gets its name from. Naldehra got its name from the Nag Temple (or Dehra of the god Nag) which lies bang in the centre of the course. The Naldehra golf course is as much a test of your game as it is of your physical fitness. The walks up the steep slopes are laborious and the chances of hitting the ball out of bounds very high! Chabba about 18 km is the base for an 11 km rafting run down the Sutlej River. Typically this activity takes place between March and June. Shaily Peak is 23 km away is the place to go to if you are in the mood for some outdoor trekking. It would be wise, to motor up early to Khatnol and trek up the 8 km to the top.

The closest airport is Jubberhatti 55 km away from Naldehra. The drive is approximately 2 hours. The nearest railhead is Kalka 116km away. From here it's a 3 hour drive to Naldehra.

WEATHER AT Naldehra

The summers (May to September) in Naldehra are pleasantly cool with temperatures ranging from 15 degrees Celsius to 28 degrees Celsius and this is the best time to visit Naldhera. The winters (October to early-March) are very cold and the temperatures drop to -4 degrees Celsius, with a high of 7 degrees Celsius, so it may not be a very good idea to visit in winter. You can also visit the region in March and April when you will find moderate temperatures.
